Hi Charles, Those 2 files are optional, gtkide can run without them, but of course with some feature missing.
The real trouble is gtk team did not provide gtk binary for mac and they expect developers to build and bundle gtk binary with applications. There are no mac gtk binary that can work out-of-box for J over the internet. Norman built a binary with setup_sdk(target="10.5", sdk_version="10.5", architectures=["i386"]) and that is what on the Jsoftware download folder. However Brian uses a ppc so the binary is incompatible with his mac. Ideally someone could build a separate or a fat binary that works with ppc, but it has not happened yet.
