..and SrvrPowerCtrl will be marketed as -"Serving the SqueezeBoxServer server community since 2008."- Maybe we should get our developer-speak nomenclature down first...and leave divining the minds of the consumers to the marketing folks for the time being. Like Phill, I don't know if anyone ever referred to slimserver as "SS"...with all those negative connotations. But certainly I've referred to squeezecenter as "SC" many times and refer to SqueezeNetwork as "SN". On the other hand, actual bits of hardware in this community tend to go by TLAs -- three-letter-acronyms..e.g. "SB3", "SBC", "SBR". (Hummm...what's the TLA for a Transporter? "TRN"? "TPR"?) So...wouldn't it be consistent if in our developer-speak we refer to hardware by three-letter-acronyms and software by two? "SBS" will thus be reserved for a future hardware product, the "SqueezeBox Sense-O-Rama" which will feature a telekinesis-controlled UI. ..and our two letter acronym for SqueezeBoxServer -- the service? Ugh. Now we're right back to "SS". -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64453 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
