just force it. i vaguely remember when aol bought netscape and they
wanted no matching userids.

it wasn't pretty but they forced people to change. same thing when
ebay bought half.com

my suggestion: do the common sense thing. use the email addy as the
"unique id" for the forums and bugzilla to start with, and then allow
people to use whatever meaningless displayed handle for both. (it could
be the same or not, doesn't matter, the email addy is the common
denominator to both)

later on, they could tie their mysb.com profile to that email, or not.
wiki, etc... if not, each email they use will be a separate unrelated
profile. i think they should be encouraged to just use one email for
all however, and i certainly would, but no harm if they won't.

the real thing to look to do however, is in your NEW users, when they
install SBS or signup for mysb.com, that email they use should be
confirmed, and then create a profile for all these services. getting
new users to conform (ie. copped from the start) is more important long
term than migrating the concerns of existing ones who have "issues" with
conforming.

does this address your concerns?
