Madness. Windows 7 minimum hardware spec is 1Ghz processor and 1GB of
RAM. Totally unnecessary for a Squeezebox server, and it leads to a lot
of power usage too. 

My Dockstar when streaming music, along the two USB drives connected
use up 10W in total according to my energy meter.
It would be simpler to take a squeezeplug-like device and provide a
simple web gui to administer it. Truehl has already made it very easy
with his Squeezeplug image.

My Dockstar just works 24/7. I'm afraid I cant say the same for Windows
servers I used to have...

As for RAID, I agree and dont use it at home. My main problem is
deleting files by accident, and then noticing a week later. It's why I
use daily rdiff-backup across my two drives.
