I use windows, and I find the performance pretty abysmal. switching to "high performance" did help, and besides adding another level to that, which I'd support doing, I think there might be more tweaks to it which aren't being used or exploited. I saw threads and bugs about this. basically making more tweaks to the default settings which alleviate artificial bottlenecks b/c the default settings are for minimum style rigs.
something else I desperately hope you change, is the way server will automatically, and without out warning, do a scan or maybe even a clear and a rescan, just b/c u change some option. a lot of people, like me, don't just set options once forever, but even if we did, we would like to set them ALL first, and THEN do the rescan.
