Speed of the interface, I think is what he meant. It's not really meant
to address system responsiveness, per se. It just puts the search
results closer. Use the search box on Wikipedia to see the intention.
It's pretty standard stuff.

It's not just that. The search results are much faster ("much" depending on your hardware :-)). I mentioned the case where the regular search with the old highmem setting would take several seconds to return. The new search would return within 10-20ms.

- it uses very simple database queries (single table vs. several tables eg. for track->artist, track->album etc.)
- it returns "raw" data (json) vs. rendered HTML content
