Yes. All artists that have an album. > > *Artists* - Contains all artists that have been the main artist on a > track on any album > No, but it depends on what you mean by "main artist". I have an album of Frank Sinatra duets and one of the tracks has a second artist of Charles Aznavour, and I expect to see Charles Aznavour in the (all) Artists list. It would be hard to say that Sinatra is not the "main" artist on that one track. What would a non-main artist look like? > To me this makes sense, because then it would be logical for me when I > want to look for the music. > - If I wanted to find an album, I would look in *Album Artists* > - If I wanted to find a track, I would look in *Artists* With the two artist lists I simply want to either be able to browse through all the main (album) artists in the library or else be able to browse every last artist who has recorded on even a single track. I want to browse either one simply to see what that artist has in my library. When I'm in the "All Artists" list, without browsing into Charles Aznavour, I do not know whether or not he has any full albums or only tracks. I think your reasoning here is a bit off. > This would in my mind mean that compilations could be listed in: > *Album Artists/Various Artists* > And under each specific artist performing on the compilation under: > *Artists* Various Artists functions as an album artist. And since the all artists list should contain both album artists and one-off artists, it should be included in both. > I still feel that it's pointless to have a *Artists/Various Artists* men > because the purpose of the b]Artists[/b] menu is to find a track, not an > album, if you want to find an album you would use the *Album Artists* > menu. No, they're both for finding music by a certain artist. Album, track, whatever. One is just less cluttered. > > There is obviously many different opinions here, if we want Michael to > implement something when he is back after the weekend we probably need > to find a way which we can use to get an agreement. Little of this does anyone any good if it's oddly unique to LMS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101264 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
