Verypsb, with all due respect, it is completely irrelevant if you think "Various Artists" should be in tags or not. it is in my tags, and it is there deliberately and it makes total sense to me, b/c in virtually all other software I NEED it to be there, and not blank. it is totally mainstream tagging, not outside the norm. also, as stated by others, it is a value commonly found in online DBs and tagged as such by many apps. what I'd like to know is why you bother to tag anything Comp=0 as your example had? as to the rest of the discussion, does anyone here object to this: 1. Home > Album Artists = whatever Album Artist value server has assigned to the files in question. comp status would be irrelevant. *everything* needs to be assigned an AA value by server, (even if an album tag is not present). 2. Home > Artists = whatever the user defines it to be, be it one tag value or a combo of them. comp status would be irrelevant. call it "All Artists" if you like, or better yet allow users to rename any of these categories, (but have a "return to defaults" button). 3. Home > Comps = only those files server has identified as being part of a compilation. artist or album artist tags present would be irrelevant to both comp detection and the creation of the results list for this category. something would be a comp ONLY if it was A. explicitly tagged Comp=1, or B. had at least one artist mismatch on an album and had no Album Artist tags. (server would then assign it an AA value of Various Artists, but would still mark it a comp) 4. have simple, hardcoded links to Home > Comps in the other lists where "Various Artists" is in 7.8 and below. that way people can still get to their comps the way they could before, in the same place they could before, it just will be renamed and be a plain, direct, simple link to Comps. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with any of those 4. do I need to wait until tonight to test out the latest windows build, in order to have the fixes Michael mentioned in this thread?
