There was some discussion about not changing the file's timestamp. How
are you dealing with this?
I don't change file timestamps. (because it corrupts the 'New Music'
browse mode)
Well, then the scanner will not discover the change. How do you expect
it to achieve this? If you want the scanner to read every single file's
content to check for changes, then you can as well run the wipe &
rescan. It will most likely be faster.
New & Changed will check timestamps to not have to read all files. Only
this can speed up the processing. If you don't want to touch the file's
timestamp, then you'll have to live with the lengthy wipe & rescan.
Solutions how to change the timestamp by only a few seconds (to prevent
messing up the New Music menu) have been discussed before.
