It sounds as if they WANT to play new games? In that case, given that they have played and enjoyed Pandemic, I would go with Settlers and, if there's time, Wasabi. I haven't played Wasabi, but I hear it is quick - probably quicker than H&G. Settlers is more interactive than TtR, and if they liked Pandemic for it's high level of player interaction, then Settlers should go over well. Just be sure to use the recommended set up and no random maps. I've taught players on a random set up and it was a mistake. It is too easy for a player to get screwed from the initial placement and feel out of it almost the whole game, if they are not experienced. If you use a set up where everyone is on the same level playing field, it should go down very well.
