Admitted, it is confusing that shortcuts don't show up while the menu command 
is clearly visible, albeit greyed out (inactive). 

I'm not sure this to be a bug, but others knowing Objective C and Apple's 
frameworks and how BibDesk makes use of it better  than me should judge on this.
