Hello,

I have been following this list for months but this is my first post.

Maybe I'm wrong again but isn't this the same PD that proposed slashing
$530,000 for the Capital City Bike Trail out of Mayor's capitol budget?

http://www.prodane.org/in_the_news/pdf/cap_budget_changes.pdf

Does PD think that the funding got in the Mayor's budget by happenstance? Or
was it because long time bike and "far" east side activists have been
pushing for YEARS to make their neighborhoods a safer place to bike in and
through? Maybe PD doesn't want to see the Capitol City Trail connect up with
the Glacial Drumlin Trail in Cottage Grove, but I would (and before my 2
year graduates from college).

The "wait till later when federal funds are available" argument can be made
about many capitol projects. It was even tried as a way to halt the proposed
upcoming work on the Cottage Grove Rd. bridge over I94/39 which adds bike
lanes and a sidewalk and re-paves the current two lane span. That argument
went something like "wait until the supporting columns need replacing in 10
or 15 years and feds might add in another two lanes and pay for all of it".

Sorry if I posted this to the wrong list. This is the bikes list and not the
"Madison Metro" list right?

Regards,
Craig
