That does not sound like it would be safe & I'd have a feeling there would be a 
lot of broken yard sticks laying on the road.
   
  In all seriousness, grab a yard stick, if you have 1, & just hold it between 
you & a wall or another object. It's amazing how visual it is. I think this 
would be a great tool to inform folks, visually, the space they should be 
allowing when passing a bicyclist.
   
  It also sounds like there may be a budget do pull something like this off, 
according to Eric, but we'll have to discuss the logistics further. It's always 
good to give folks things that they could use but also an object that proves a 
point.
