The City recently (1.5 years ago?) put in a stoplight one block north of
Haywood at Erin St. It is really easy to use Brooks St between Haywood and
Erin (go under the ped bridge between the hospital and the new parking
structure) and use the stop light at Erin to cross Park St. I believe that
the neighborhood worked hard to get a stoplight in that stretch between Fish
Hatch and W Wash, and Erin is where it ended up being located since it also
allows for all traffic to have a signalized crossing of Park St, not just
peds and bikes as would be the case at Haywood. I use both crossings
depending on the time of day and my willingness to leapfrog my way over to
the sidewalk next to the car wash driveway.

And while we're on the subject, a triggered signal would be great at the
intersection of Park St. and Haywood Dr.; considering that bikes are
directed toward this intersection from W. Shore Dr. It is very unnerving to
head out to or come back from a nice jaunt thru the arb only to be greeted
by a divided highway (Park Street at Haywood feels this way to me when I'm
trying to frogger my way across) with no signal.
