But that's why it _is_ analagous to separate drinking fountains. A "step up", yes, but at the same time, it carefully preserves second-class status. Now if _all_ the thoroughfares had red lights until triggered by approaching traffic, that would at least be fair, albeit totally impractical. As to the issue of the angles and the length of the green (from a previous message in this thread; I've lost track of it), Supv. Matano's reconfiguration addresses that, in part, by directing more traffic into right-angled intersections. --------------------- Paul T.
