I agree. I rode the bus this winter and I found that beep to be extremely loud 
when the bus was within a couple of feet of me. 
Also, bus drivers would occasionally lower the boarding platform for 
passengers, as a "nice gesture" I guess. If you're not prepared for that, it is 
really jarring.
Unplug them both, I say.
