Wait, what? No, this would be a further check involved with deciding to 
prompt the user to add something to the catalogue. The logic would work 
like this:

If the object is in the catalogue, assign the abbreviation; else if the 
object is a file or folder, prompt the user to add it to the catalogue and 
(if that was successful) assign the abbreviation; else gently inform the 
user that the action failed and exit.
