With one caveat.  If a bug or security hole arises in cairo, would you
rather rebuild cairo and firefox or just cairo?  And what if firefox
doesn't update it's cairo source right away?  I think historically at
BLFS the push has been to use libraries that are already installed on
your system.

Archaic brought up a good reason to use the system installed libraries
a few weeks ago with regards to --with-system-zlib:
