The biggest issue would probably be the gcc version. Actually I agree with the 'free for all' concept. Just document what you are doing like the sentence: "This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-6.5 platform." Just change to 6.6 or whatever you are using. You could even put in LFS-SVN-xxxxxx if that is what you are using.
