I'd better begin by checking that nobody objects if I tag things
which I built with 5.1.0-RC-20150412 (-rc1) ?
Second, I mailed the list on the 20th to say that I'd now got sound
working on my test machine (new batteries for hte speakers - no
expense spared :-) but that mail apparently never arrived at the
list. In it, I said sevcel things worked, but xine (if invoked
without a filename) produced its initial window, and the control
panel, but then crashed almost immediately. Nothing relevant to
the crash on stderr, nothing in the log. So, I had assumed either
xine-lib or xine-ui had a problem with gcc-5.
Today, I've gone back to {,B}LFS-7.7 on that machine, and there xine
crashes in the same way so it clearly isn't a gcc-5 problem. Just
saying this in case my original post turns up!
For xine-{lib,ui}, I'm not inclined to tag until I've tried them on
another machine. On this one, they do work fine if I pass a
filename.
Assuming I'm ok to tag things built with the -rc, I'll begin by
tagging those things that I've tested and consider to be working.
Except, of course, for the packages that have been updated to newer
versions.
I've also built a lot more, including server packages built with the
release. But testing all of them will take me a long while (I
wanted to test mutt/postfix/fetchmail, but my buildscript changes to
get a test a/c working in qemu never got commited and I've now
discarded the image where I did them <sob/>.
Meanwhile, I'm also doing totally non-BLFS changes to my tex-test
scripts, and preparing to edit the new biber and its changed perl
dependencies :-(
Plus, I suppose I should be editing the packages where I commited
gcc5 patches - some of those can probably be changed to seds now
that gcc-5 is in LFS.
So, please don't expect my tagging to be quick ;-)
