Hi Chris, I am not very sharp on these issues but are the cooling fans working properly? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Hallsworth" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 3:52 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Possible XP SP3 Problem
Hi David, that's not the problem here. Her PC just suddenly shuts off, without even doing a shutdown; it just powers off. If she tries to press the power button it refuses to power on, until after a few minutes. Now this is where I'm suspicious, as heat must be building up inside the laptop, and, as a result, it's getting too warm to function further, so Windows must trigger something to "trip the circuitry" and as a result switch off the laptop. This happens both on AC power and battery, so it can't be a charger issue as she only got a new one weeks ago anyway. If she, for example, chats to me on Windows Live Messenger, reads e-mails, browse the web, etc, then her PC appears to run fine. This is why I don't believe it's a Windows XP SP3 issue, and it's again an overheating issue. Any thoughts on this guys? Thanks for the help so far, greatly appreciated. -- Why not join my Blind Hobbyist group?
