Anna Just because you allow your computer to automatically download updates that does not mean the update will work with the software on your computer. The updates you download are mainly to do with Microsoft and other Microsoft programs, not programs from other vendors like Freedom Scientific and GW Micro etc. etc. It you were to actually read all the T & C's (Terms & Conditions) in the ULA, which you would choose I Agree without even reading them, I'm sure you'll find in there passages that mention that Microsoft cannot be held responsible if their updates cause problems with other non-Microsoft programs.
Any update, for any program will allow you to download an update - there is no way any of them can know what other software you have on your pc, for as many pc makes and models there are probably just as many vendors of software, and they cannot check every single piece of software will work with every single update they produce. Like others have said you might just be lucky that Jaws 4x is doing what you want it to do, but that doesn't mean it is doing everything it is supposed to do if you had the latest version of Jaws. Like others have said because you are using that version of Jaws, there are lots of features you are missing out on with Internet Explorer, and also probably with many other programs on your computer. And by the comments being posted you would appear to be in the minority, well there is only you with that opinion, so I think on this one you really are going to have to take in what people are telling you.
