Greetings. Why not use the number pad for navigational and other commands? 2 and 8 moves backwards and forwards, 4 and 6 turns left and right, 7, 9, 1, and 3 could all be use for position alignment. The zero, decimal, and other keys could be used for other functions, as well as the near-by arrow keys and six-pack.
This leaves the left hand in full control of the character, whilst the right hand has the same abilities over saber movement..
