Hi Tobias,
I have used mono for Linux and it is pretty good for cross platform
work. However, it only compiles withC# .NET applications last time I
checked, and the screen reader issue applies. Mono does not interface
with the Linux x-windows accessibility framework making it useless for a
blind user to use most apps. Although, games might not matter if they
are self-voiced.
There is a mono application like DirectX that has built in support for
SDL, OpenAL, and OpenGL, and it looks pretty good.
