Lenny, I don't think much of wood as an insulator, Also, assuming you put ice in the bucket with the bottle, you'd have to use varithane or some other very good finish inside to keep water from soaking the wood and causing rot and seperation not to mention molds.
They used to make ice boxes of wood, but they were mostly doublewalled and had some kind of insulation between the walls. Tom
