Michael, I ended up returning the Dewalt. I did not like a couple of
things, but the real issue was a problem in the mechanism that raised
and lowered the blade. It seemed to slip a little and made some
growning noises. I ended up getting the Ridgid saw after reading the
reviews and info. It was one hell of a box to drag into the house, I
really like that all the goodies can be stored onboard, and it seems
like a very stable saw. THe only thing I didn't like is the little
plastic key for the switch to turn it on. It seems a little to
flexible and I think loosing it would be a pain in the butt.
I'm also a little baffled by the rip fence. Apparently there is a
micro adjustment, but I don't know how that works. On the Dewalt, you
unlocked a handle on the underside which allowed you to use a knob to
move the fence a little at a time. I understand the Ridgid has this,
but haven't figured it out. Of course I haven't read the manual either
and I managed to put the accessories where they belong, change the
blade, and setup the unit from the folded to unfolded position. I
can't say that I'm unfolding it properly, but well I guess I got it
figured out.
