Greetings of the Season to All. I have a Sony 4 track dual speed tape player / recorder that has served me well for years.
It has developed a very annoying noise; almost like the sound of radio static e.g. not normal tape hiss. I have used canned air on it, cleaned the heads, put in fresh batteries, etc. and the tape in question plays normally on other machines. I use the Sony a lot when working with music instructional tapes and appreciate the pause function for this purpose. However, the static has become overwhelming and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or tips on how to restore normal operation. Many thanks, Mitch
