Thanks for the idea. We've thought of that, and in fact we have a roll of paper here for that purpose. We've used it before and find it helpful, butthere are a couple difficulties with it. In a couple places we have to cut up to some edges where there willl be no molding to cover, and we've found that the pattern paper still isn't precise enough. Second, we have to match the pattern of the same flooring from the kitchen through the door into the bathroom, and have a different method in mind. My dad used to lay linoleum for a living, and they often used this method, except they used frolled roofing for their pattern. The idea is a good one, but we're going to try it the way we've seen my Dad do it. I'll tell you later how successful we were. Blessings, Tom -----Original Message-----

They took a roll of brown butcher paper. Using sheets of this they totally covered the floor taping the pieces together. Now they had an exact template of the floor with all of the cutouts. They then rolled out the vinyl in the garage and placed the paper template on top After cutting they carefully rolled and put it down in the rooms. Just something to consider. Sounds like a nice project. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Vos" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 27, 2009 1:06 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] The floor has begun, Part 2 My son and I started on the bathroom and utility room floor yesterday. Today we're taking off for worship, but my body needs a break too. Standing up from a crouch is a bit difficult this morning. We pulled up the top floor all around where the toilet was. The sub floor looked pretty good, so we left that, and laid in a piece of plywood, with shims to bring it up the the level of the floor around. The bathroom is off the kitchen, and there is another door that goes off from the bathroom into the utility room We are going to lay a continuous sheet of vinyl floor through the door so it is seamless between the rooms. We have fitted underlayment into the bathorrm and through the door into the utility room. That took lots of measuring and fitting. The rest of the underlayment should go easier, so maybe Monday afternoon we will put the vinyl in place.
