Tom, a few years ago I saw a diy program that had a nice tip for a similar flooring project. They took a roll of brown butcher paper. Using sheets of this they totally covered the floor taping the pieces together. Now they had an exact template of the floor with all of the cutouts. They then rolled out the vinyl in the garage and placed the paper template on top After cutting they carefully rolled and put it down in the rooms. Just something to consider. Sounds like a nice project. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Vos" <vo...@iowatelecom.net> To: <blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sunday, December 27, 2009 1:06 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] The floor has begun, Part 2
My son and I started on the bathroom and utility room floor yesterday. Today we're taking off for worship, but my body needs a break too. Standing up from a crouch is a bit difficult this morning. We pulled up the top floor all around where the toilet was. The sub floor looked pretty good, so we left that, and laid in a piece of plywood, with shims to bring it up the the level of the floor around. The bathroom is off the kitchen, and there is another door that goes off from the bathroom into the utility room We are going to lay a continuous sheet of vinyl floor through the door so it is seamless between the rooms. We have fitted underlayment into the bathorrm and through the door into the utility room. That took lots of measuring and fitting. The rest of the underlayment should go easier, so maybe Monday afternoon we will put the vinyl in place.
