You know, I'm wondering the same thing. I usually have my rechargeable batteries separete from my nonrechargeable ones, but something happened along the way, and things got mixed up. I asked my son, and yes, he can read already, at 6, told me they all looked the same, and they said the same thing, but now, i'm not so sure. Of course, it is not his fault, and he's only a kid. I'm not placing that kind of responsibility on him & do feel bad that I even had to ask him, but he needed a game charged, so I was trying to get him all squared away.
I thought about saving the batteries to have them checked out, but they had a good amount of acid on them, so I didn't want to continue handling them. What is the proper disposal method for something like this? Well the quickest way to test the outlet is to plug in something like your hair dryer, radio etc. If the batteries exploded I wonder if you had the wrong type of batteries in the charger? I am not sure if I would even want to try and clean it up. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Claudia" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, February 06, 2010 2:12 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Battery Charger! Hi, We just had a nasty experience. We have a battery charger, and I was charging a set of 4 AA batteries. I left to the store, and My fiance said that he heard two pops, like when you pop bubble wrap. When I came home to unplug the charging unit, there was battery acid dripping down from it. I don't think the charger will work anymore; I'm assuming that I should toss it out? I need to know if the outlet where the charger was plugged in may have been affected? How do I know if that outlet still works? Thanks.
