When I took the batteries out, it looked like I had them all in, the correct way.

Well the quickest way to test the outlet is to plug in something like your hair dryer, radio etc. If the batteries exploded I wonder if you had the wrong type of batteries in the charger? I don't think the charger will work anymore; I'm assuming that I should toss it out? I need to know if the outlet where the charger was plugged in may have been affected?
