Aping legacy key systems (or PBXs) should really be a non-goal for BLISS.
It's a loosing battle.
"Equal" means they won't upgrade to SIP (and I'd argue that in fact, it
won't be "Equal" but "Almost-as-good"). We have to do "Better" if we want
to be successful.
Everyone I've talked to in our company who talks to customers about
what they want says that "Hey, Joe, pick up on line 3!" is a primary
customer demand. So I suspect that if we want to *sell* our product,
it had better allow this operation in some way or another.
Once the current release of SIPxchange gets out the door, my next task
is designing our MLA implementation. It's going to be interesting,
because there seem to be 4 different MLA systems:
draft-anil-sipping-bla-03
draft-anil-sipping-bla-04
Broadsoft
whatever Bliss comes up with
I can assure you that "Hey, Joe, pick up on line 3!" will be
implemented.
