Does anyone have leads for discounted parts for an Audi. Just looking for
brake components (Rotors
and pads).

Thanks,

I don't accept this. we changed Carlos' pump (and the
pan gasket obviously) without removing the subframe.

Darn...now that I see this and tried to look for my
issue, I realize I haven't yet received my August
Roundel. Did you all just receive it within the
last couple days?

Brian,
Yes, it could be the limited slip (if you have one) clutches are wearing
off.
When was the last time you had changed the fluid? How many miles on the
car/diff?
If it's been a while, I would put new RedLine 75W90 and see if changes
anything. Normally, limited slip diffs start to wear somewhere north of
150K miles. Running constant load on the diff (different diameter rear
tiers) would expedite the wear, though

Your car does not have an axle => independent suspension all around.
It could still be a bad wheel bearing. Those things are hard to pin point,
especially on the rear.

All other things being equal, engine torque transmitted to the wheels
would put load on the LSD. Turning in neutral = no delta in torque load
between two rear wheels.

I have a Mercedes 300E where there was noise when turning, especially in
one direction. Thought that different differential lube might fix it, but
turns out that it was just toast, ordered another from a Merc parts place
(same gearing ratio) and it's been fine. That happened with about 155k, if
I remember correctly.

For those of you in New England but not in the Boston Chapter, thought you
might be interested in doing this....
_______________

Come join your fellow members of the BMW CCA as we assault the legendary
roads and gaps/passes of the White Mountains on a glorious late summer
weekend jaunt: the New Hampshire Weekend Ramble/Drive/Rally/Lollapalooza!
Twisty mountain roads, scrumptious meals, death-defying activities and a
few twists... what more could you ask for?

The HQ for our little adventure is the Mountain View Grand Hotel and
Resort, located in bucolic Whitefield, NH. Newly restored in 2002, this
historic grand hotel has been known for its character and intimate comfort
since 1865. The hotel is offering us a FABULOUS package deal with rates
that can't be beat.

On Friday afternoon, we'll meet up for a group drive up to the hotel,
where we arrive in time for a twilight round of golf, a horse ride through
the countryside, or time to take advantage of the luxurious Tower Spa.
For those of you that can't get away early, you can meet us in time for
drinks and then dinner.

On Saturday morning, we'll have breakfast at the hotel, then a drive/rally
through the White Mountains. Our planned routes take us through a bunch of
notches/passes, with lots of elevation changes, twisty mountain roads, and
breathtaking scenery. Our lunch is scheduled for the historic Mount
Washington Hotel & Resort in Bretton Woods.

After lunch, for those of you so inclined, the tax-free shopping haven
(dozens and dozens of discount and outlet shops) of North Conway is only
25 minutes away. Alternatively, for those of you with more of a
competitive edge, we'll head out to Attitash Mountain (weather permitting)
for kamikaze competitive alpine slide riding! And maybe some sudden-death,
timed miniature adventure golf. We will return via another scenic route to
the Mountain View Grand in time for a late afternoon nap or other
activities of your choice (spa appointments, croquet, swimming in the
Olympic-sized pool, and much more). After a cocktail reception, we'll
adjoin for another gourmet meal.

On Sunday, after sleeping in, we'll meet for Sunday Brunch. After
packing-up and checking-out, we'll have another scenic drive loop that
will leave us near the Interstate for the ride home.

Scott wins the "guess why Chris's car smells like gas when the tank is
full" competition. The fuel pump gasket is seeping gasoline onto the top
of the tank. I am hoping its just the o-ring (I seem to recall there being
an o-ring last time I changed one of these pumps) and not a totally
rusted-out top-of-tank. Anybody know if the ring is available seperately
from the pump. I suppose I should consider changing a pump with 201,000 km
on it... who's got the cheapest replacement pumps??

Chris P, all the hoses underneath the plastic cover in the right rear wheel
well were in good shape. I removed about 4 lbs of accumulated road grunge
too, so this should improve my 0-60 times.

Thanks!

I want to put a 3.73 gear in my 95 M3, which I use mainly to get me to the
track and to run track events. Is there any stock differential that I could
look for that came with a 3.73 that would work in my car. I would have it
rebuilt and the Quaiffe added to it, and I have the larger, rear cover with
the cooling fins. I would like to not trade in my current diff when I
switch, in case I have a failure in the future.

You want the 3.73 ring&pinion from an E30 325is.

You can install that in your BMW medium-size diff using a set of
"shoulder bolts" from PTG. They will sell them to you at $5 each or
so. Probably the cheapest thing you can ever get from PTG.
