I don't know what's causing that, and after playing with it for a bit, I conclude that I don't have the m4d CSS skillz to fix it. Joel, care to give that a crack?

Install Firefox; Install the WebDeveloper extension; Look at the page; Selected the WebDeveloper option to outline table cells.

That will show that the extra 2 pixels is the padding for the table cells. Which in this case shows up as extra because of the nested tables.
