Hi Rhonda and list,
You may need to use a serial port on the blazer but the problem is the
twenty-five pin serial port they have. I think with adapters, one might be
able to emboss with the M-power and Blazer, otherwise, you need some kind of
infrared device or bluetooth device to utilize the parallel port on the
Blazer. I don't know whether newer Blazer embossers have gone to nine pin
serial ports or not. The classic units worked well with the Blazer when one
could connect them through the parallel port but the M-power no longer has
the parallel port. This has caused much concern with a number of us on this
list since embossing with the parallel port is not as convenient to do as it
once was. Terri and I have the infrared adapter which works okay with my
embosser. If you are buying a new embosser, I'd recommend the Romeo Attaché
by Enabling Technologies over the Blazer. I believe that machine has a USB
port but don't know how it would work. It also has serial and parallel
ports. If on the other hand, you really
want a rugged embosser and you need to emboss on wide paper, I'd say get the
Romeo RB25 or RB50 pro embosser with ET Speaks. Both do have nine pin
serial ports and that would interface nicely with the M-power I'm certain.
If I had money to spare, I'd get the RB50 pro with ET speaks. Of course,
you could get one of the double sided embossers but they cost more when
being repaired.
I actually used my infrared adapter on an old Romeo and it truly was one of
the originals. The M-power worked nicely with it using the infrared
adapter. I was impressed.
This was probably more than you wanted to know but you got my opinion just
the same.

Hi Rhonda. I've seen a BN classic work well with the Blazer. I've never
tried it with the serial port, but if a parallel port is available on the
BN, it should work fine.

Are any of you using the Braille Blazer, and if so, what is
required? Also, what kind of success are you having?
Thanks in advance.
