Kathleen, I don't know all power saving features on PAC Mate and BrailleNote. Both devices needs battery change once every a year or two. Both devices can work with Bluetooth and InfraRed (Bluetooth is built-in to the BN, while you need a Bluetooth card for PAC Mate). I hope this information may help you.
