Thanks for the post. You've probably already seen my modification, that I should have said modem and not router that he wants off most of the time, which defeats the whole purpose of having wireless. The suggestion of turning off the SSID broadcast has been passed on to him, so perhaps that will help. You mention WEP. Am I remembering correctly that that can cause problems with the BN?

Rich and I leave our router on all the time and there is no
problem. There's really no reason to switch it off. If there is a worry about security, set up the router with WEP, and no one will be able to access your network unless they have the WEP key.
