BrailleNote, however you have to do it through a web site. A

I have found the BrailleNote M-power QT-32 I own to be far more
stable than
PAC Mate.
Here is something else to consider: I just went through an
upgrade from 7.2
to 7.5. I lost absolutely none of my data because it is stored
in a
partition totally separate from where the system files are
located. I didn't
even have to touch E-mail settings or wireless network
configurations. I was
simply using it within seconds after the upgrade finished. Try
that with a
PAC Mate.
By the way, if I want to use MSN Messenger, I'll just do that on
my Dell
Axim 51V running Mobile-Speak which also supports Avantgo 6...
which the PAC
Mate Omni will not support upon release... another step back for
PAC Mate
users. Go Freedom Science Fiction!

As a current user of that product, I would put a couple of
caveats on
these statements.
First, The PM is the better choice if you actually want to be
running
Windows.
Second, my sense from the discussions on this list, is that the
PM does
a much better job of handling Word documents.
3. The PM does run Instant Messenger, so that would be something
to
consider if it is important to you.
I also have the impression that BN users have to perform resets
much
more frequently, though that could be just an impression.
Just some food for thought.

The omni will run CE 5, but Windows Mobile 6. Also, the MPower
has 125 mb ram as will the Omni. However, I agree completely
with what you said and recommend the same course of action.

Comparing the SmallTalk Ultra is apples to oranges since this
device
runs Windows XP.
In the case of the PAC Mate however, in my humble oppinion,
we should
definitely stay far away from it and continue to follow the
BrailleNote
devices if we need customized notetaker for the blind
functionality.
My reasons for suggesting this course of action is the following:
1. PAC Mate, even upgraded will have only have half the RAM of
the currently available M-power line.
2. Absolutely no other on-board hardware changes are being made
to the PAC Mate. In other words, we are still stuck with one USB
port to serve client and host devices. There are still no SD
card
slots... only two CF slots. On-board Bluetooth support is not
forth-coming. They are not upgrading the processor... only
doubling
the RAM to 128 MEGS which is, as I have already stated, only half
of
what the M-power units are sporting.
PAC Mate running Windows Mobile 5 is going to be dog slow! As for
me
and my house... we are staying with, and recommending the
Humanware
family of notetakers.

I live in the uk and feel that the upgrade is not worth it for

I am very seriously considering purchasing the small talk ultra
for
portability and the use of windows xp.
I would love to be able to stream from say the bbc with my pk but

course this cannot be done.
I work away a lot so need portability.
