Hi All,
I've had my BrailleNote PK for three years, got it in November of
2004, and they let me renew the service contract on it and didn't
say a thing about the Braille display being three years old.
Now, if I had purchased the unit used and it were three years
old, I'm not sure what they would have done, especially if the
previous owner had let the service contract lapse. So, was there
a service contract already on the unit that your son was trying
to renew, or had it lapsed and he was trying to get it started
again? If this three year thing is true, grin, and assuming I
don't sell my mPower, maybe I had better get it back to the HW
hospital to have it checked out and the service contract renewed
before I've had it for three years. But, I'll let that decision
wait, at least for a while longer.

Subject: [Braillenote] Re: Service Agreement
Rose,
My son bought a used transplanted unit a few months ago. In a
recent phone
call to Humanware, I was told he could not buy a service
agreement because
the braille display was 3 years old. There was no mention of a
problem with
the "transplant" itself, just the fact that any unit with a
braille display
3 years or older can not be issued a service agreement. Does
that sound
right, folks?

I was told by HumanWare this morning that I am unable to buy a
service
agreement on my Braille note, why? Because it is a transplant!
I don't
think I have heard this one before, but maybe I just missed it.
