The sides, the flaps that cover the side-mounted ports and switches that is, are velcro. What should not be is the strap on the right side of the back face of the unit. You will see four such straps, one on the left corder, one between the USB ports and the SD card slot, one betwee an LED and the VGA port, and the fourth to the right of the DSL port. This fourth one should be solid, but the old cases hat it velcro. If it is velcro, hw should replace the case for free.
