I agree with those who say keymail is prone to errors and odd behavior. Personally, I avoid it except to send the occasional email, and use instead my pc or iPod (I am also a gmail user).
I believe there are ways of importing your Outlook address list, and googling it should bring up the gmail help pages on the topic. As to hw's interest, I'll just say this: the crashes, data loss, and other bugs have been going on for at least four years, possibly more, and are still not fixed. In fact, hw has never even acknowledged them or warned its users that their entire email database could suddenly be corrupted for no reason at all and all the emails it contains lost. If you have a backup, fine, but what happens when you backed up a corrupt copy without realizing it? They have also been silent on adding features which many would consider essential in today's world, such as IMAP support or the ability to view emails grouped by conversation instead of one at a time.
