Hello Tom, and a warm welcome to the list!

Just to clarify, your Gmail account isn't "an IMAP account." You can
use either IMAP or POP or both. You don't have to pick one and use it
exclusively. If you only get a few Emails (say under fifty per day)
you might find that POP works just fine in Keymail on the BrailleNote.
People's experiences vary with Keymail; I actually have pretty good
luck with it as well. But of course, it's severely lacking in features
- filters, synchronization with Outlook, IMAP support, HTML Email,
sorting by thread, and so forth. If you want to read certain Emails at
certain times (say personal Emails right away, but Emails from the
BrailleNote list at another time) this is where filters come in handy.
You can use the search feature for that, but you'll probably find that
it doesn't always do what you'll need it to do.
