My final post about this issue. Yes PDI should implement a loaner program of
some sort. As for the issue of employers buying two of everything for the
people who are blind that they hire I think the state agencies for the blind
and the employers and employees need to work together. I realize this rarely
happens but it is a thought. I think what I'm trying to say is if someone has
a BN that they use for work and home they need to have some alternative in
place at work and at home to deal with everyday tasks when that equipment fails
for some reason. Some maybe for people who are deafblind the employer could
have a laptop with a Braille display or something. I know most employers don't
provide such good accommodations. I know that I am very lucky to be working in
the position where I have technology available to me.
