One last question with regard to re-seating the probe:

I just pushed it in as far as it would go (about 3 inches or so).  Is
there anything tricky about it that I missed?

The other thing is that I purchased two controllers, so I will also
connect the second one and see if that results in the same problem.

Ira, I see that at first glance I misinterpreted what you had
suggested.  You only suggested removing the sensor, not the whole
controller.  I will do that either this evening or in the AM and post
it before we leave.
