Thanks for the response. I managed to find the info on adapting to the new 
board - I'd suggest putting a link to that info from the board purchase 
page. 

You're right, it didn't fix the E1 problem. It is the original controller 
in the Brewtus I, whatever that is (old style?)

We did a little more troubleshooting. The brew boiler is definitely 
exceeding the set temperature. It seems like we get accurate temperature 
readings through the heat up / cool down process. When it reaches the set 
temperature the LED light in the display turns off but it continues to get 
hotter eventually getting to the E1 error. We are at altitude so our set 
point is 88 - this is just shy of boiling at the group. When it hits E1 we 
get a lot of steam/flash boiling at the group - obviously much hotter even 
though the LED light would indicate the brew boiler heating element was off.

What is the next step?
