I also got the VST baskets and tamper in a weak moment; any one of these 
(screen, basket, tamper) makes a subtle difference, but all of them together 
it's quite noticeable.  The tamper of course doesn't impact flavor but fits the 
baskets incredibly well and is a work of art that feels great in hand. I guess 
in so far as it stops edge channeling, it does impact flavor.
