Reading Herman's reply, I recall hearing that solid state relays commonly fail on, which would exactly cause the problem you're seeing. A new relay should be under $15 on eBay or amazon. Get one that's rated higher than necessary and make sure to use heat sink compound when you mount. If you're handy and if there is room, putting an aluminium plate larger than the relay between the relay and the stainless case with heat sink goo on both sides might significantly improve the ability of the relay to stay cool.
