California has _lots_ of fans that root for other teams.
When I go to an A's game there is always a relatively large
contingent of the other teams fans. Last time it was
Seattle, and their fan base has been bolstered by the large
number of Japanese fans following Ichiro Suzuki. Boston
seems to have the largest fan base here though - their fans
show up in droves.

Its because, as people world wide gravitate to the states,
people statewide gravitate toward California - last time I
heard less than half the population were natives. Also, for
the most part, fans rooting for other teams are not treated
too rudely (the exception being when they are obnoxious).
The exception is Dodger fans on the other side of the bay.

As for hating teams, I used to hate the Raiders but had many
friends that were Raiders fans. Since the whole move to LA
and back thing though, I kinda feel bad for them -
especially having to put up with their owner, Al Davis. As
a 49ers fan, I've always disliked the Cowboys. I don't know
many Cowboy fans, but I never cared much for their Owner or
their coaches or Deon or Irvin. Always had respect for
Aikman and Emmit though. I used to hate the Bears too, but
they're too pathetic to hate anymore. And any team from LA.
I think if there was a little league team from L.A.
playing in the LLWS, I'd root for the other team. 8^)
