I definitely have a problem with "secret military tribunals" and Osama bin Laden et al. being tried under US law.
I have a problem with the trials being secret because it makes it impossible to determine whether or not someone will get a fair trial. No matter what crimes someone has committed, they are entitled to a fair and public trial; this is a basic human right. The US have always done their best to portray themselves as the global defenders of human rights, but once it starts making exceptions for certain people, denying them those rights, they are no better than the criminals they want to prosecute. I have a problem with the tribunal being a military one, as Osama bin Laden et al. are not soldiers in a regular army, but terrorists. Their actions were not acts of war, but acts of terrorism. Therefore, they should be put on trial as criminals, not soldiers. I also think they should not be tried under US law, but under international law and by an international organisation. Since this is an international issue (the US goverment itself refers to the attacks as "international terrorism"), the only legal body to deal with this is the International Court of Justice.
