An addendum: has anyone watched a... hmmm... BBC special? Something like "<reporter name> beind the lines"?
The guy went to Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Palestina, in September 2000, interviewing the people of these countries, and trying to de-demonize them. Even the Taliban soldiers looked sympathetic :-) The most striking part, however, was in Palestina. He visited the palestinian camps, he saw the suffering of the palestines, and then he met face to face the Sheik of the Hamas - and he said to him that he thought Hamas was butchering innocent children and this was against the Law of God, and the Sheik replied to him [this Sheik is a very impressive figure; hes completely crippled, tetraplegic, etc]. After the interview, he looked to the camera [I think he was filming himself] and said: "I have just met the man who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians. I should have felt hatred for him, but after I saw the way the palestinians live, I didnt. I still feel nothing." Maybe this tragedy will last for a *long* time :-/ Alberto Monteiro
